Music nights are a great way to have a few friends over and enjoy some self-made entertainment.
Usually someone you know has a guitar or can play percussion and beat to your own drum, sing (we can all sing in the shower) or play the spoons (grab a few spoons from the kitchen drawer) or a harmonica.
Most of us learned to play the recorder in school, Uggh!
So pick out a few favourite songs most people know the words to Neil Diamond: Sweet Caroline or the Lumineers: Ho Hey and Fleetwood Mac: Don’t Stop, Sheryl Crow: Soak Up The Sun, KT Tunstall: Black Horse And The Cherry Tree and print some song sheets for the background singers.
Add a few shakers (make your own with a few containers and some uncooked rice), a tambourine and a cowbell and you have a fun jam night in. You maybe amazed by the local talent. When in doubt add more cowbells.
Music is a fantastic way to relieve stress, music changes mood instantly and laughter is great medicine.
Now, bring out those Peanut Butter and Jam Sandwiches, every great band of musicians needs some energy and a midnight snack.
